EXCERPT:

(Venus POV)

“And you and Taein cannot be seen out in public with each other whatsoever,” CEO Park continues.

“What?!” I ask, shocked, “We can’t be in public together?”

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, but I can’t even imagine that, not after the summer I spent with Taein. We did not have to worry about this at all when we were in Atlanta besides just being careful not to stick out too much. Taein, seeing that I’m distressed about something, speaks up and CEO Park fills him in.

He looks less startled than me, a gentle sadness hanging in his dark eyes.

“Gossip travels quickly in this industry,” CEO Park says, “Even if an idol is seen hanging out with someone who is just a friend, dating rumors spread like wildfire. I don’t care what the two of you do in your own time, in your own home, but I absolutely cannot allow the two of you to arouse suspicions.”

My heart sinks to my stomach. I had wanted Taein to show me around his home as I did for him. Now that seems to have been flushed down the toilet.

“For how long?” I ask.

“For however long Eclipse is promoting. I do not allow my idols to date until their group has been established for at least four years and Eclipse has not reached that point yet. It’s for their safety.”

That seems like a load of nonsense to me. Celebrities date all the time back in the States and no one really bats an eye besides just general gossip and nosiness. CEO Park must see the protest in my eyes because he speaks up again.

“One of the biggest marketability of idols is the illusion of a chance of becoming romantically involved with them. The actual chance of a fan ending up with the idol of their affection is slim to none but not zero. That’s what keeps them spending money, that’s what keeps my groups alive. Talent can only go so far. You can be the most talented person in the world, but if no one desires you, you’re not going anywhere. An idol being in a relationship cuts off that fantasy and cuts off that member’s appeal. And with the two of you . . . you’re soulmates. Taein is beyond taken off of the table, but we can’t allow anyone to know that, especially since he’s the most popular member.”

I wince. While that is true, it’s hard to hear.

“That’s just the business,” CEO Park says, shrugging, “If you care about Taein’s career – of the career of all of the Eclipse members, you won’t let anyone catch wind of your relationship, understood?”

EXCERPT:

Rain pelts down on me and quickly soaks through the pathetically thin hospital gown I’d woken up in. I hardly notice. The cold seems nearly nonexistent and I can barely see a foot in front of my face, the heavy rain turning everything into a blur. Regardless, I trudge on, trusting my feet to take me where I need to go. Lightning strikes again and briefly illuminates a small gazebo. I walk in that direction and step under it, my sight restored. Rain hangs off my lashes, falling like tears as I blink, taking in my surroundings. Lightning strikes once more, allowing me to see the figure propped against one of the gazebo’s columns. He sits with one knee pulled under his chin and stares out into the storm, seeming not to notice my presence. At this angle and under this poor lighting I am unable to tell much about him, his wet hair covering much of the side of his face. Hesitantly, I sit next to him, unsupported by a column. I study the boy’s back, attempting to figure out why he would be outside during the middle of a storm. That thought leads me to wonder why I myself am here. But I just felt this pull . . .

BOOK BLITZ w/EXCERPT - NA SUSPENSE - MYTHOMANIA by W.H. Rose

MYTHOMANIA
by W.H. Rose
Publication date: January 21st 2020
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Suspense

BLURB
She’s the love of his life, the object of his affection. Too bad she doesn’t know it yet.

Isla Montgomery is a normal fan. She supports her favorite K-pop group and swoons over them like every other fangirl. But one Saturday morning her life changes forever when Matoi Jaemin announces to the world that he’s in love . . . and with her, a girl he’s never even met. He isn’t who anyone thought he was, isn’t that same smiling man she’s used to. Jaemin Matoi is a yandere: a delusional, obsessive, lovesick man whose only medicine is Isla.
EXCERPT:
“What would you like? We mostly have sandwiches and there might be something else hidden in the back somewhere,” Jaemin says, sounding completely normal.
He’s sat her down in a position where he can still see her even as he rummages through the food selection.
“Whatever’s fine,” she says, not feeling hungry at all.
Jaemin hums, choosing a plastic-wrapped sandwich and snatching a can of Coke before sitting across from her.
“I’ll make something better for dinner. I’ve been practicing more recipes and I think I’ve gotten quite a few of them down packed,” Jaemin says as Isla unwraps the food, taking a mouse-sized nibble.
As she pops the tab on the can, Jaemin rests his elbows on the white table, head resting on his tangled hands. His sneaker-clad foot sneaking towards hers and trapping one of her ankles. He smiles sweetly but somewhat vacantly at her, sending chills through her entire body.
“You’re not eating?” Isla asks.
“I’m on a diet.”
“What if we shared?” Isla suggests, “My stomach feels a little uneasy from the flight.”
Not quite an entire lie.
Jaemin lights up.
“Okay. Half a sandwich won’t make much of a difference, will it?” he says, already taking it out of her hands.
“No, it won’t. Besides, why are you even on a diet, Jaemin? You already look too thin,” Isla points out, concerned.
He shrugs and takes a large bite from the side she’s already bitten off of.
“Needed to lose weight.”
“No, you didn’t,” Isla says, watching him scarf down most of the sandwich.
“May I?” he asks, gesturing towards her soda.
“I can get you a full one,” Isla offers.
“I just want a sip.”
“Well . . . okay, I guess,” Isla says, watching him practically snatch the drink and down at least half of it, lips pressed against the metal instead of waterfalling it.
He slides both items back over to Isla, picking up her hand and rubbing it with his thumb.
“You know,” he says, speaking quietly despite the two of them being the only people in a thousand-foot radius, “I almost drowned.”
Isla freezes up instantly, eyes blown wide.
“What?!”
“I haven’t told anyone but you. But I almost . . . it hurt. I felt abandoned, completely tossed aside and trodden on.
“Jaemin–”
“But I didn’t. I didn’t because all I could do was think about you, think about how sad you’d be if I broke my promise. So, I didn’t.”
“Jaemin–”
“I don’t think I can do that again,” he says, tone flat and lifeless, “I don’t think I’m strong enough to keep that promise again,” he says.
The threat is clear.
