BLURB
Daisy survived two years in orc captivity with one rule: Don't get caught during the run.

Sassy burlesque comedian, Daisy LaRue, always believed her orc captors kidnapped their pretty victims for nefarious reasons. Humans, fairies, pixies, and other beautiful beings, all taken from their homes and forced to survive in a world built on a brutal game of hunter and the hunted.

But do the orcs want them for lunch… or love?

When Daisy is finally caught during the orcs' quarterly run, she discovers the so-called monstrous men might not be the villains she pegged them to be. The one who caught her may turn from enemy to temptation.

In a world where nothing feels certain, she’ll face a battle far darker than captivity when her captor, Commander Bramwell Grognak, reveals the truth of a twisted history built on the study of eugenics. With the handsome orc at her side, Daisy takes a stand against the hidden evils of a society once built on honor and tradition.

As love becomes the greatest challenge they face, this world may be worth fighting for.

Running with the Orc: Excerpt
“Might as well get comfortable. We’ll be here a while.”
“You saved my life,” I blurted out. I was shocked to even say it as we settled into the cave, rain pouring down outside.
He didn’t say anything, but the knowing glance he gave me almost seemed sincere. “What good would you be to me dead?”
This asshole. “Wow. Such chivalry.”
“What do you want me to say? You’re sitting there thinking right now of a way out of this, so you don’t become my next dinner option. So what’s it going to be? Take my sword and slit my throat this time? Maybe take my other eye?”
“You act like the eye thing is worse than death.”
He shrugged, poking at the fire with a stick. “Sometimes it’s hard to see that death isn’t such a bad option.”
“That’s a little dark, don’t you think?”
“So is thinking a man’s goal in life is making a meal of you.”
He had a point. I wasn’t exactly sunshine and lollipops over all this. “You can’t blame me for being cynical. You kidnap us from our homes and force us into this barbaric game of hide and seek. Excuse me if I’m not grateful.”
He actually chuckled at that. “I guess you’re right. But not everything is as dire as you may see right now. You never know. You might enjoy being eaten, little taste.”
“You’re an ass.”
“And you’re still blushing that I mentioned it.” He sat back, resting his head on the wall with a smirk as the flame lit his beautiful face with ironic glory.

“Sometimes I really hate you.”

Author Info
Best-selling, award-winning romance author Loretta Kendall is an Indiana girl at heart, splitting time between writing steamy, swoon-worthy love stories and keeping up with her comedic sidekick husband. When she’s not lost in a world of words, she’s probably in the movie theater watching the latest release or trying to keep her poor, defenseless Venus flytrap plants alive. ~ RIP Molly Sue, Poe, and the twins.

Outside of writing, Loretta has a soft spot for vintage horror monsters, pinup fashion, and multimedia art. As a former pageant queen, celebrity makeup artist, photographer, and talent agent spanning twenty-two years in fashion and entertainment, her life experience gives a unique spin on her stories and their lively characters.

Loretta’s love for storytelling shines through in every book, blending real love with the perfect touch of comedy, glamour, and outright chaos to captivate her readers.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Interview with . . . Loretta Kendall . . .

How would you describe your style of writing to someone that has never read your work?

Unhinged chaos with a sprinkle of snark, love, and laughter mixed in. I love a misunderstood character with a bit of sass, and I push for my monster heroines to be independent with hearts of gold. Even when finding love, they aren’t the typical damsels in distress. They’re often rabble-rousers who give their love interests a run for their money.

I also love writing imperfect people in unexpected circumstances. Monster romance became the perfect genre for me to express how those who are different can still be beautiful in their own ways. After all, normal is boring.

By the end of my stories, I hope readers fall in love with my crazy characters’ quirks and root for them to find love.

Have you found yourself bonding with any particular character(s)? If so, which one(s)?

Most recently, burlesque comedian Daisy LaRue from my newest novel, Running with the Orc. Despite being a prisoner to the orc hoard and a world she couldn’t escape, she found ways to keep her head up and find laughter in the darkest of times. She uses the skills of her career as a way of survival by entertaining the orc warlords. With danger lurking around every turn, she pulls out her biggest weapon, sarcasm and sass, to make her a strong leader for others in her camp to begin a rebellion. She’s a fighter where most people would find defeat.

I believe people who can still keep a smile on their face, despite how grim their circumstance my be, are the strongest among us. Daisy certainly fits that role.

Do you have a character that you have been working on that you can't wait to put to paper?

To keep the vibe of my previous Ghouls and Gals Series, I’ll be rolling out a swamp monster woman that will be unapologetically fierce. I’ve not hashed out all the details, but Rebel will be a bad girl with a flair for getting herself into trouble. I hope she’ll be as wild and rowdy as I plan her to be. Despite how her character arc unfolds, it will be all the drama with classic monster fun thrown in.

Can you share your next creative project(s)? If yes, can you give a few details?

I’m currently writing a ghost romance novella that will be free to read on my website, coming this spring/summer. It was a side project before I dived back into creating a new series of monster madness.

In the coming novella, Cherry Adler was the star dancer of the Cherry Bomb, an 80s family-owned nightclub. After she’s met with an untimely death, years later, the club’s newest handsome DJ, Thorne Sterling, will be the only person who can solve a decades-long cold case. The beautiful ghost haunting the club leads him on a dance he’ll never forget in a pop culture-themed spicy romance with a lot of mystery.

This rom-com will prove that even in death, Cherry still knows how to steal the spotlight and get her man.

What are some of your writing/publishing goals for this year?

After finishing the Cherry Bomb novella, I plan to work on a spin-off standalone collection that follows the world within the Ghouls and Gals Series. So far, the stories will add to the Horror Earth universe with a matchmaking trope that I think will be fun for readers to sink their teeth into. The I ❤︎ Monsters collection will follow three ladies on the search for love in a world where monsters and humans collide.

Thank you Loretta Kendall for joining and giving a little insight to you and your process. Your work is appreciated.

Tagline:  “I’m a rockabilly love’n, hot-to-trot mechanic with a need for speed. A little sass and not much class, but I'll keep you entertained and your car in the lane.” ~ Gigi Stein

BLURB
Take a wild ride with Gigi, the former bride of Frank N. Stein, as she navigates the world of rat rod racing and explores the unfamiliar territory of understanding love. With a sassy rockabilly style and a lot of attitude, this stitched-up bad girl will capture your heart with lots of laughs along the way. Join her and her misfit friends, including an adorable Venus flytrap who can be a little naughty. Be careful and read the warning signs in the lobby - Molly Sue bites!

Get ready for motor-revving action as Gigi discovers the truth of the lost romance of her human past, uncovering a hidden agenda for why she’s not like others of her kind. Made for humans and monsters alike, Frank-n-people are nothing more than entertainment and sensual gratification for their owners, created by a madman. Not accepting that as her fate, this undead girl is blazing a path of her own.

With the mad scientist Victor’s decision to grant Gigi free will, she has mustered up enough strength to part ways with her abusive ex-husband, following a cataclysmic event that forces vintage horror monsters into the human realm. When she crosses paths with Fox Adams - a lonely human drifter, he wants to work alongside the beautiful, green-skinned drag racing icon in her infamous monster garage. Confused by the attraction to a man with dreams of racing stardom, it forces her to look into who her host body really is if she wants a future with Fox. Together, they form an unlikely bond that will show her she wasn’t just made to be a living Frank-n-mate doll. She was made for love.

Excerpt: Steamy Scene
“Mine,” she roared.
Whatever strength was within her from long ago, took hold at the very moment her body was about to go over the edge. Flipping him over and slamming him to the bed, the power he had given her took lead. With her monster taking over, she held his arms to the bed, her lip snarling from lust.
Fox didn’t seem to mind when she growled at him again as if about to go on the attack. He just laid back and let her freely take control. When she finally let loose, there was a brief instance he saw his life flash before him, and that oh-shit feeling of clear and present danger was a little too real. Before then he had almost all but forgotten she was a monster, but now he knew for sure.
Reaching for his member lingering between her legs, she snarled. “Whose cock is this?”
“Y-yours,” he stammered out.
“I’m going to fuck you hard and fast, pretty boy. I want you to come inside me and own this pussy. You want to play with a monster. Well, let’s play.”
When finding her eyes changed at the hint of the newfound monster's rage, Fox suddenly got a bit scared. He’d never seen this with the vampire woman, but Gigi was a whole other breed.
When she grabbed his face, purring against his cheek, a dark side of her seemed almost to take over. With a slow deliberate lick up his jawline, she felt him shiver beneath her, giving her more thrill than she’d ever felt before. It was empowering, exciting, and even thoroughly erotic.
“Don’t be afraid, little pet. I always wanted a little bitch of my own. Who’s my good little bitch?”
“Gigi, I think you need to slow down,” he begged, his voice shaking.
He hadn’t been afraid of monsters since he was a young boy, hiding from the dark shadows under his bed. Yet here he was, frozen in fear of a woman he loved. Some part of him was not only terrified, but immensely turned on by her innate ability to overpower him. It was then he started to understand the allure of monster fetishes.
“Are you scared, human? Don’t deny it. I know you are. A monster can smell a man’s fear,” she hissed, as she slid down onto his thick girth. “You feel so good inside me. Such a good boy.”
Rolling her hips to keep his arousal, she was loving every moment. It was a brief peck of her cherry lips to his own that showed Fox all he needed to know. She was in control, but she wanted to play. Like a feral beast set free, she was enjoying this newfound sexual freedom. Despite that bit of fear that he harbored; he’d let her have the freedom she craved.
“Do you want to play with your prey, Mistress Georgina? Can I be your little pet?”
Leaning against his cheek, she smiled devilishly, humming in his ear, “What’s your safe word?”
“Red flag?”
“Mmm. Just like a good little racer.” Biting his lip, she rocked her hips again before she said, “And green… means go.”

“Green.”

The Book Junkie Reads . . .Reckless Dreams  Interview with  . . . Loretta Kendall . . .

How would you describe your style of writing to someone that has never read your work?
My stories tend to always have an element of humor, even in the more serious of situations. Being able to laugh pulled me out of a lot of hard times and want to share those smiles with others. I love to see a reader who gets a giggle out of something I wrote.
Then there is the romance aspect. I’m a hopeless romantic and have been married for going on twenty-eight years. I believe when the love is genuine, it sticks, as to why many of my main characters seem to have a deep emotional connection to each other. Love is never easy to attain, so I like to always add some struggle on the way to the journey of finding each other.

What mindset or routine do you feel the need to set when preparing to write (in general whether you are working on a project or just free writing)?
Inspiration sort of comes naturally to me, so when something hits, I must get it down on paper. Once I’m ready to write I need total silence. I turn off all my devices and write for hours. Occasionally I will turn on some background classic rock to inspire a scene.

Do you take your character prep to heart? Do you nurture the growth of each character all the way through to the page? Do you people watch to help with development? Or do you build upon your character during story creation?
My approach to building a character starts with visuals and aesthetics. Everything from what they wear, the music they listen to, to the pop culture styles they enjoy. I have a Pinterest page for every book for inspiration and the current series has been fun to find images for characters and the pin board just keeps growing.
In this series, most of the monsters were pulled from vintage monster movies, pin-up fashion, and rockabilly culture. I was watching an old episode of The Munsters and instantly got an idea for a group of friends whose world was built on retro horror movies. I loved Lilly Munster and Elvira Mistress of the Dark as a kid, so when I started character building for this series, they were defiantly inspirations.

Do you have a character that you have been working on for a long time that still isn't quite ready, but fills you with excitement to work on the story?
Defiantly Harlow’s story that’s later in this series. Being she is a werewolf her hair is part of who she is, as well as her love interest who is a bigfoot monster. I saw her character being a stylist who gets cancer and struggles with the embarrassment of hair loss because it’s a status symbol among her kind.
That story will be dear to me because my mother was diagnosed with cancer while I was a hairstylist. I’m retired now but was with her through the process of shaving her head, picking out wigs, and the overwhelming emotions she had as a woman losing her hair. I know Harlow’s story will be tough to write, but the laughter and love put into the book will show the journey of accepting who you are. I have alopecia and know the struggles women have when losing their hair and want to show that from a wolf woman’s perspective.
There will be a lot of laughs in that book that will lift her spirits as she goes through treatment. I can’t wait to start writing that one.

Can you share your next creative project(s)? If yes, can you give a few details?
My next project is book two of the Ghouls and Gals Series. It will be a continuance of book 1, featuring the beautiful pinup model and mummy monster, Cleopatra. I’ll also be bringing back VĂctor and his battle with Frank N. Stein. Cleo is on the run from her wealthy father and her ex-boyfriend who are trying to use her for financial gain. She will team up with her new love interest, billionaire Victor Frankenstein VI to try to bring down a dangerous horror duo.

If you could have dinner/dinner party with 7 fictional characters, who would they be?
Not all of them would be book characters so it would be an odd mix, but fun, nonetheless.
First, Jem from 80’s cartoon Jem in the Holograms, because why not? She’s cool and a rock star.
Then it would have to be Gunner from my book Dreamer because he’s not only an Alpha shifter wolf, but he’s a celebrity pro-wrestler and I’m a huge wrestling fan. I’d probably be fan-girling over him the whole time.
Next it would be Thor from the Avengers movie because… it’s Thor.
My favorite would be Lilly Munster because she’s absolutely lovely and we can share goth-inspired makeup tips.
Last but not least, Storm from the X-men comics. She’s badass and beautiful. A deadly awesome combo.
