TOUR - YA URBAN FANTASY LGBTQ+ - NEMESIS (Circuit Fae, #4) by Genevieve Iseult Eldredge

Nemesis
(Circuit Fae, #4)
by Genevieve Iseult Eldredge
Publication date: March 26th 2019
Published by: Monster House Books
Genres: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

“I found the writing to be on par with Queen [Sarah J. ] Maas and Elise Kova; I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy read that steps out of the box and makes a name for itself.” – FairestSkyeBooks

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . NEMESIS (Circuit Fae, #4) . . . You have to pick this up if you have read any of the previous books. I would say the same if you have not. You would enjoy the rich blend of characters, world building, and the creativity of what happens when it all goes down south very quickly.

Watching Syl and Rouen be at odds was this time around was a bit different than the previous encounters. Yes, the are dating (or at least what they constitute dating). Yes, the love each other. Yes, they are both queens in their prospective court. Yes, they are on opposing sides. But there something different in the steps, the process, the decision. Syl and Rouen have to complete this dance and make it though the round for it all to make sense and for some light to shine on something more.

This fourth full-length installment has a greater intensity than experienced with the other read from this series with the same young ladies running the show. The characters feel more developed, like growth has occurred. While at the same time you almost feel that things are just repeating themselves. It may feel that way but I assure you this was a completely different ride all together.

The writing is there. The character full. The plot brings you closer to something big. The way it all combines gives you a read that was full. The world building and crafting of characters helped to develop another level or layer to the story.  I found it all enjoyable.

What would you do if your beloved girlfriend suddenly became your worst enemy?

That dilemma’s all too real for Syl Skye, the last princess of the fair Fae. Even though Syl is all things sun and Summer, she’s drawn to her polar opposite, Rouen Rivoche, the dark Fae princess-assassin of the Winter Court.

They should be mortal enemies, but they’re best friends. Girlfriends. In love. That is, until Roue falls under a dark spell that makes her forget all about Syl, their lives and their love. Now Roue rules Dark Faerie as a cruel and cold Queen. A Circuit Fae who can harness the killing magic in technology, she wants nothing more than to destroy Syl and her fair Fae people.

But when an old enemy brings both Faerie realms to the brink of destruction, only their queens, Syl and Rouen, can save the day—and only if they can put their differences aside for two seconds and team up.

With the clock’s ticking on Syl and Roue’s relationship—not to mention all of Faerie—will Rouen remember the love she and Syl once shared, or is she destined to be Syl’s nemesis forever?

Long live the Faerie Queens! Syl Skye, Queen of the Summer Court and her polar opposite and soul-bound love, Rouen Rivoche, Queen of the Winter Court have finally brought peace to their warring Fae realms.

Or so they think.

Because Rouen’s mother, the Adamant Queen, is back, and she’s hell-bent on ruling—no matter what the cost! She tears the Shroud that shields mortals from Faerie and declares war on Syl, Rouen, and the entire mortal realm.

Now all of Faerie’s breaking loose—along with every other dimension in the history of ever—and mortals are awakening to their Faerie blood and being swept up in the Adamant Queen’s war. Worse, the mortals fight back, and with every passing hour, the military draws closer to discovering Faerie’s whereabouts and exposing all its secrets.

Beset by enemies on all sides, can Syl and Rouen heal the Shroud, stop the war, and defeat the Adamant Queen before Faerie, the mortal world, and everything in between goes kaboom?

Their only chance lies in the evil dark circuitry magic they’ve been fighting all along—the Moribund. It’s a desperate plan, but Syl and Rouen’s enemies are about to find out:

Faerie hath no fury like a Queen scorned.

Being a fairy princess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, especially when you have to choose between saving your people…And killing your girlfriend. Oh, and let’s not forget having to pass summer school, too.

Talk about a hot mess.

First, there’s Rouen, princess of the dark Fae, goth-rock star Euphoria, and soon-to-be senior at Richmond Elite High. Her world is all things ice, snow, and death. And that death will include her own people unless she can defeat her evil father in a Battle of Wits and War and seize the throne. Trouble is, taking the throne is a death sentence for the princess of the fair Fae. In other words, a quick death for Syl, Rouen’s girlfriend.

And that’s so not good.

Second, there’s Syl, princess of the fair Fae, geek girl mathlete, and also an incoming senior. Things aren’t any easier for her. Syl must save her people by battling her old nemesis, the fair Fae prince, and the same rules apply: taking the throne means a death sentence for the other court’s princess, Rouen.

Even worse, Syl and Rouen’s enemies have figured out they’re a couple. Now, both Rouen’s father and Syl’s archenemy are teaming up to ensure neither of them makes it till Midsummer’s Day never mind to the fall semester.

Looks like passing summer school is the least of their worries.
