TOUR w/EXCERPT - THE TROUBLE WITH VAMPIRES (Argeneau, #29)by Lynsay Sands

The Trouble With Vampires
Argeneau Series
by Lynsay Sands
Publication Date: April 23rd 2019
Publisher: Avon Books
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Irresistible desire and thrilling suspense combine in this electrifying new Argeneau novel from New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . THE TROUBLE WITH VAMPIRES (Argeneau, #29) . . .  I have read this series for year. And have had the opportunity to read all the books of the series. You find characters you love to see and you find characters that you just plain want more of. Then you have the characters and stories that just live with you. I was hoping for something a bit different this time. I think. Just from my own perspective. That this time we get a bit more. There are layers of elements that will surprise some and intrigue others. I love vampires. I love their stories. I love the Argeneau and family/friends. I found this one to just be that extra in a series that has so much already.

The writing is there. The characters are there rich, vibrant, and alive. The new but not new direction of things have you turning pages to see what happens. Must read for all the fans of the Argeneau's and even if you only love vampires.

BLURB
For close to three thousand years the imposing, impossibly handsome Santo Notte has fought in armies across the world and battled his own, more personal enemies. Of all the places he might expect to encounter his life mate, a quiet corner of upstate New York doesn’t seem likely. But as soon as he makes contact with history professor Petronella Stone, while hunting down a suspected rogue immortal, he knows that she will be the greatest adventure of his eternal life.

He expects her to be surprised, confused, even overwhelmed. What he doesn’t expect is that Pet has a secret history of her own. There’s no mistaking the mind-blowing, mutual pleasure they share. But as Pet struggles to protect her nephew from a danger lurking too close to home, Santo realizes there’s another threat to her safety—him. And claiming their passionate future will be impossible until he leaves his past behind, forever…

 Prologue

“911. What’s your emergency?”

“Hi . . . um . . . I’m not sure if I should be calling you or the police.”

“Is this an emergency?”
“It might be. I’m not sure . . .”
“Just tell me what’s happening, son. Is someone there sick or injured?” When the boy didn’t respond at once, the operator asked, “Are your parents arguing and it’s scaring you? Are they getting violent?”
“No! No. It’s our neighbor. Well, not really our neighbor, but his cousin who’s visiting. He . . . er . . . he’s sick . . . I think.”
“You think?”
“No. He is. He’s sick. And I think he may be dangerous. I’m afraid he’ll hurt Mr. Purdy.”
“Mr. Purdy?”
“My neighbor.”
“Right. And you think this cousin who is visiting him is sick and dangerous?” the operator asked, doubt obvious in her voice. “If so, why hasn’t this Mr. Purdy called instead of you?”
“I’m worried maybe his cousin won’t let him.”
There was a long pause, and then the operator sighed and asked, “What kind of sick is dangerous, son?”
“He . . . er . . . I think he might be suffering from Renfield syndrome.”
“From what?”
“Renfield syndrome,” the young voice repeated reluctantly.
“What’s that?”
“It’s . . . er . . .” The boy paused, and when he continued, there was a grimace in his voice. “It’s a sort of vampire personality disorder. The—”
“Vampire!” the 911 operator squawked. “You think your neighbor’s a vampire?”
“No! No, I think his visiting cousin thinks he’s a vampire. That’s what Renfield syndrome is and—”
“Honey, there is no such thing as vampires,” the 911 operator said over the boy’s explanation.
“But he—”
“There’re no buts here, kiddo. You need to cut the nonsense and get off the phone. You can get in a lot of trouble for crank calling 911. There are real people out there who need help and calls like this might prevent them getting through. Someone could be dying while you’re wasting our time with this prank.”
“This isn’t a prank,” the boy said earnestly. “I really think he thinks he’s a vampire. He has fangs and—”
“And I really think you need to stop watching horror movies and take yourself to bed. I’m writing down your number, boy, and if you call again, the police will be dispatched to your house and they could arrest you for this. Don’t call again.”
A sharp click sounded. It was followed by a dial tone.

TOUR w/GIVEAWAY - Vampires Like It Hot (Argeneau, #28) by Lynsay Sands

Vampires Like It Hot
Argeneau Series
by Lynsay Sands
Publication Date: September 18th 2018
Publisher: Avon Books
GenreParanormal Romance

New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands brings the heat in this new Argeneau novel, as one woman is rescued by an irresistible immortal …

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . VAMPIRES LIKE IT HOT (Argeneau, # ) . . . My first thoughts upon get through was fun, flirty, interesting, and hot. Jess was the product of her family life. She was also not very happy in that life. She had to be lure/tricked/dragged on a family outing. The outing from hell. The outing that left her near drowned and in the arms of a stranger(s), Raffaele Notte.

Raffaele did not anticipate finding a woman near drowned. He did not anticipate that said woman to be the mate for his life. He did not expect to hear the words coming from her mouth. He now had to figure out a way to get her through or over what she went through.

I find the series to be fun and entertaining, but there seems to be a lack in the hilarity that came with the earlier books. There was still fun and funny moments but just not as much as before. The series allow for followers to see how the Argeneau clan and family, friends, and the circle find that one person meant for them. The journey at time fun, funny, intense, action filled, and each of them have a mini drama, while others are continued underlying drama. This was one in the series that I felt something was missing connecting the tour boat actions.

No matter the results not being fulling concluded for me, I love the entire Argeneau series. They are building, connecting, and growing. The sense of family and friends make you feel like you too could be a mate to an immortal.

BLURB
“Vampires…”

When Raffaele Notte pulls a barely dressed, disoriented woman from the ocean, the last thing he expects is for her to utter that word. The immortal has come to the island resort to help his cousin, but now, it seems, there are rogue vampires dining on unsuspecting tourists. And he soon realizes that not only is Jess a target, she’s also the life mate he’s been waiting for…

Vampires are real. Jess would’ve never believed it until she saw them with her own eyes. She knows she has to get off the island, and her gallant rescuer has offered to help. There’s something about Raffaele that’s unlike any man she has ever met, and his touch sends pleasure through her that is beyond all imagining. But when Jess discovers who he really is, will she risk life as she knows it for a chance of forever by his side?

EXCERPT:
“It’s a woman.”
“Who is she?”

“She’s wearing a life jacket.”
“What happened?”
“How did she end up in the water?”
Raffaele shook his head at the rapid-fire questions shot at him by Zanipolo and Santo as he carried the woman out of the water. Rather than answer, he merely said, “Bring my clothes, please,” and walked past them, heading for the resort buildings.
The men had already gathered his clothes for him on the way down, so merely fell into step on either side of him as he walked.
“Is she alive?” Zanipolo asked with a frown, leaning slightly in front of Raffaele to look at the woman in his arms as they walked,.
“Yes,” Raffaele said quietly. “I think she has just fainted from her exhaustion.”
“Are you taking her to the resort clinic?” Santo asked as they reached the rows of lounge chairs at the head of the beach.
“No. I want to look her over myself first,” Raffaele said solemnly.
“Why?” Santo asked at once.
“Two reasons,” Raffaele responded as they made their way out of the rows of chairs and reached the concrete paths leading to the various resort buildings. Much to his relief the paths were pretty much deserted at this hour with most people already in bed, or situated in the bar enjoying the entertainment. There were only one or two guests making their way to their rooms and they paid them no attention.
“What is the first reason?” Santo asked as they approached the paths around the pools.
“I want to look her over for bites,” Raffaele admitted.
“Bites?” Zanipolo asked with interest. “What makes you think she might have been bitten?”
“Because when I asked her if she’d fallen off a boat or cruise ship, she said no, she jumped, and when I asked why, she said—” he glanced around to be sure no one was near enough to hear, and then lowered his voice anyway as he finished with “‘—vampires.’”
“Bingo,” Zanipolo said with grim satisfaction as they got past the pools and approached their building. “She’ll be able to tell us where the vampire nest is and how they operate. It’s got to be some kind of dinner cruise or something. Or it could be a day cruise. She could have had to swim a long way.” He frowned over that briefly as they reached their building and walked along the open hall to the stairs, and then asked, “What is the second reason you want to examine her before we take her to the resort clinic?”
“When I got to her she was beyond exhausted,” Raffaele said as they started up the stairs. “Her words were slurred and she could hardly keep her eyes open. I thought it would be easier all around if I read her mind to see what had happened, and took control of her to drag her in.”
“And?” Santo prodded as they exited the stairs at their floor and started along the hall to their room.
Raffaele was silent for a minute, having trouble accepting what he was about to say himself, but when they reached the door to their suite and Santo pulled out his key card to unlock the door, Raffaele swallowed and said in almost a whisper, “I couldn’t read her.”
Santo had got the door unlocked and started to open it before Raffaele spoke, but now he stiffened and turned sharply to peer at him with amazement. “What?”
Raffaele merely nodded.
“Score!” Zanipolo shouted gleefully. “Didn’t I tell you? I told you! Didn’t I? Hot resorts are the way to go to find our mates! I so toldyou that!”
“Yes, you did,” Raffaele admitted with amusement as Santo pushed the door open for him to carry his life mate into the room.
“And he’ll remind you of that every day for the rest of his life,” Santo said dryly as he let the door close, locked it, and then hit the light switch, turning on the overhead light.
“Sì, I will,” Zanipolo agreed gleefully, moving to Raffaele’s side to peer down at the woman he held. Eyeing her almost reverently now, he whispered, “Cugino, your life mate is very pretty.”
“Yes, she is,” Raffaele agreed solemnly, his gaze sliding over her as well. Her lips were full and looked soft, her nose straight, and while they were closed now, he knew her eyes were large and lovely, and an eggshell blue. Her hair, of course, was wet, but appeared to be a dark brown.
“What is her name?” Santo asked, moving closer to look her over as well.
Raffaele stiffened at the question. “I don’t know her name,” he admitted.
“You didn’t ask her?” Santo asked with surprise.
Raffaele shook his head.
“Are you kidding me?” Zanipolo asked with disbelief. “You finally meet your mate and you did not even ask her name?”
Raffaele opened his mouth to respond, but was forestalled when the woman in his arms suddenly began to shriek and thrash wildly about.

EXCERPT
Chapter One
"Tybo, it's time to move," Beth said into her headset as she watched the garage door drop closed.
"And thank God for that. We've been camping out here all night in the cold and mud. I'm done in," came the complaint over the headset.
"We all are," Beth said grimly. "So quit your bitchin' and move into position or I'll come find you and kick your arse."
"God, Beth, I love how your accent comes out when you're annoyed. It's so Eliza Doolittle." Tybo's voice was smooth and full of laughter this time. It made her suspect he'd complained just to get a reaction out of her, especially when he added, "I like it best when you talk dirty. It just revs my engine."
"Dirty?" she asked with surprise.
"Ummm hmmm," Tybo crooned. "You said arse."
Beth covered the mouthpiece of her headset as a bark of laughter slipped from her lips. She hadn't worked with Tybo long, but was quickly learning the man was a character. Shaking her head, she removed her hand from her mouthpiece and said, "Stop flirting with me, you cheeky bastard, and move into posit—"
A choked sound and the rustle of cloth from her earpiece made her stop talking and listen instead before she said, "Tybo? Tybo?"
Beth paused a heartbeat to wait for a response, and then said, "Valerian? Do you see Tybo?" Silence was her only answer.
"Ah hell," she muttered. Slipping out from behind the tree she'd been using for cover, Beth started moving quickly in Tybo's direction. She had the dart gun she'd been issued in one hand, but her sword in the other. It was the sword that saved her. Before Beth reached the spot where she'd ordered Tybo to take cover, the dart gun was abruptly kicked from her grip. She never saw it coming, but reacted instinctively, sword hand coming up and swinging hard even as she turned toward her assailant. She caught him at the base of the throat where it met his shoulder. The blade went deep, slicing better than halfway through his neck.
Beth yanked it out, grimacing at the sucking sound it made. She watched the man topple sideways to the ground, and then quickly wiped the blade off on her attacker's coat before grabbing up the dart gun she'd dropped. Shooting him with it to ensure he didn't heal and rise too quickly, she then turned and continued forward. Beth found Tybo on his back in the mud some twelve feet from where she'd been attacked. There was a knife in his chest.
"You should have moved when I told you to," Beth muttered as she bent to tug the ivory-handled knife from his heart. He didn't open his eyes and sit up at once, but she hadn't expected him to. He'd need some time to heal. Beth reached into the satchel hanging at her side, pulled out a bag of blood and then opened his mouth. She had to massage his upper gums briefly to get his fangs to slide out, but then she slapped the bag to them.
Leaving Tybo where he lay, Beth straightened and glanced around before continuing along the path. Valerian had been positioned another thirty feet ahead in the woods surrounding the house. She found the hunter exactly where she expected, also with a knife to the heart. As she removed it, Beth noted that it was a duplicate of the knife that had been in Tybo's chest.
Tossing the blade aside, Beth slapped a bag of blood onto Valerian's fangs as well before turning to peer through the bushes at the house they'd been watching since just after sunset. It had been empty by the time they'd got their orders from Mortimer at the Enforcer house and made their way here. The inhabitants, a rogue immortal and his minions, had already been gone by then, probably to hunt up new victims. Beth, Tybo, and Valerian had sat here awaiting their return for most of the night and now it was almost dawn, but a few minutes ago a van had pulled into the driveway. The garage door had opened, the van had pulled in, and the door had closed without them ever seeing how many people were in the vehicle. Which was why Beth had ordered Tybo to approach the house. They needed to know how many rogues they were dealing with and what the situation was. It was vital to their approach. If there were innocent mortals who needed saving, for instance, it would affect how they handled everything.
It seemed, however, that their presence hadn't gone unnoticed, and one of the returning rogues had managed to slip out unseen and sneak up on them. Her question now was whether that was the only one. Had the newly turned rogue just been sent out to check around and happened upon them? Or had they been spotted and he was sent out to take care of them? And if so, how many others, if any, were out scouring the trees surrounding the house, looking for them? Aside from whether there were innocents around, Beth also needed to know many rogues were inside besides Walter Simpson, the master rogue of this group. Unfortunately, getting those answers and doing anything with them would be hard since her entire, and very tiny, team was now incapacitated except for herself.
Cursing under her breath, Beth took a quick glance around and then moved to the nearest tree and swiftly climbed up into the branches. She settled on a large, sturdy branch fifteen feet up, took a moment to be sure that she had a good view of the surrounding area and that no one could sneak up on her, and then slid her cell phone from her pocket.
Mortimer answered on the first ring. "Problem?"

Virtual Tour - Immortal Unchained (Argeneau, #25) by Lynsay Sands

IMMORTAL UNCHAINED
An Argeneau Novel
by Lynsay Sands
Published Date: March 28th 2017
Publisher: Avon
Genre: Paranormal Romance
In a spellbinding new Argeneau novel from New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands, a dangerous rescue is just the beginning of red-hot adventure…
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of: Immortal Unchained (Argeneau, #25) . . . I have been waiting patiently for this one. We get to see a new Argeneau (Argenis, origin) and continues on the ride on to the island of the crazy mad doctor/scientist that wants to see what and how the immortals work and just how far he can take it.

SWEET. SEXY. SAUCY. SCITILATING. SCALACIOUS. SUPERB. I love the new installation to the Argeneau family. We get to see an ancient immortal that had found his soulmate in that of a young girl. He watched and allowed for her to mature into a woman, but things go wrong when he gets nabbed by the crazies and she follows. This was a high intensity impact of danger and passion. We get to see the true depravity of the man that wants more than to just become an immortal. He was much much more.

Sarita was strong, independent, sexy, sweet, and capable of more than the normal female mate. She gave just as good as she got. She could give more. She was the saucy, spice that added to the interaction from both sides passion and dangerous intrigue. While Domitian was the cool sweetness of the passion and fire.

Come take a trip to the isles of the Venezuela coast with the Argeneau family. The hunters. And of course for those that have read the previous books Lucian. We get to see the depths of this villain depravity. I loved the new addition. I have read all of them and I can say with all honesty and realness. You do not have to read them all to enjoy this one. You do not have to read them in order to get the full passion, fire, sparks, coolness of this series. Each one have its own impact on you. There are some underlying elements but there are all standalone reads.
