Hey all you Book Junkies out there! Julie Ann Walker here, celebrating the release of the fourth book in my bestselling Deep Six series, DEEPER THAN THE OCEAN, by sharing with you my favorite romantic suspense reads.

Without further ado, here goes! 

1) The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann. No one does romantic suspense like Brockmann. And this first book in her Troubleshooters series illustrates why she’s an auto-buy for me. I’m not sure there’s a funnier, tougher, and yet more tender hero out there than Tom Paoletti.  

2) The Night is Mine by M.L. Buchman. Do you like tough-as-nails heroines and big-hearted men? Then look no further than Buchman’s The Night Stalkers series based on the real-life helicopter pilots who transport elite black ops groups, like the Navy SEALs and Delta Force, in and out of covert combat missions.  These books are fire!

3) Virtue Falls by Christina Dodd. This book is part mystery, part thriller, part romance, and ALL edge-of-your seat reading. There are so many twists and turns you’ll be dizzy. And the quirky characters in the small Pacific Northwest town of Virtue Falls will have you jonesing for the story to go on forever.

4) Extreme Honor by Piper Drake. Love former fighting men, loveable dogs, and tons of intrigue? Then dig into Drake’s The True Heroes series. I mean, life is better with a dog, right? And so is a book!

5) Hidden by Rebecca Zanetti. In fact, Zanetti’s entire Deep Ops series is a must-read. The books are packed with action, adventure, danger, and they just happen to ooze sexiness. I love Zanetti’s ability to make her characters both kind and kickass.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . DEEPER THAN THE OCEAN (Deep Six, #4) . . . I am not sure about you but I have been with the series since the beginning. So to kick of the new release, I went back and started it over from the beginning, Hot as Hell (prequel). Each book brought something more to the series. Each one gave you more of a reason to love the next one to come. We had Michael, Leo, Bran, Mason, and now we get Ray. The stakes are still high, but this time around there is a little something more that each man of the team finds to value more than what lies at the bottom of the ocean. Ray (Wolf) finds that his is Deeper Than The Ocean. He finds that he would go even further if necessary. Christina (Chrissy) finds that she may not be able to avoid the brood alpha male. She also finds that there is so much more in wait for her in the ocean and she will need Wolf/Ray more than she would like.

Author Info Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Julie grew up in a house full of women – she has three older sisters. As you can imagine, there was no lack of drama… or romance. Her mother enrolled her in a book club as soon as she began to read and it was the small spark that ignited her voracious appetite for the written word. Because of Julie’s early immersion in literature, she found writing came quite naturally. In high school, she won multiple writing contests and was the proud senior editor of The Tiger’s Tale – her school newspaper. During her college years, however, she longed for a challenge. “Reading and writing felt like second nature to me, so I looked for a way to flex my mental muscles,” she recalls. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, Julie began teaching advanced high school mathematics. “I loved working with the students and facing the challenges of the classroom, but I longed for the occasional snow day when I could race to the local book store, buy two or three new novels, and curl up in front of the fire to read.” It wasn’t until a fortuitous move to Chicago that Julie once more returned to her first passion. Now Julie loves to travel the world looking for views to compete with her deadlines. When she’s not writing, she enjoys camping, hiking, cycling, cooking, petting every dog that walks by her, and… reading, of course!
