Do you feel that writing is an ingrained process or just something that flows naturally for you?
I’ve been writing all my life and it seems to flow naturally for me, although there is always room to learn new techniques. I learned how to write sex scenes from reading online fanfiction – the varying quality of amateur writing was useful in showing me what does and doesn’t work in a scene.
What mindset or routine do you feel the need to set when preparing to write (in general whether you are working on a project or just free writing)?
My primary requirement when writing is that I have to get dressed. Despite the image of the writer happily working away in a dressing gown, I have to be wearing clothes otherwise I simply can’t get my writing head on.
Have you found yourself bonding with any particular character(s)? If so which one(s)?
I’ve found myself getting more and more bonded with Tamar as the series went on – she was a quiet and unconfident sensitive during I Heard Your Voice but has really found her feet by the time Spiritwalker begins. She has abilities I would love to have myself – I’m fascinated by the paranormal but have never been able to claim I was a sensitive.
What are some of your writing/publishing goals for this year?
Having had some health issues this year, my primary writing goal is to keep working. I have a couple of stories that I’m keeping under wraps at the moment but would like to get at last halfway through by Christmas. I also have been planning a story for Harlequin which I would like to get underway.
Where would you spend one full year, if you could go ANYWhere, money is not a concern? What would you do with this time?
I’ve always wanted to take a driving tour of America, although it might be more realistic to do it as a fly-drive. I’m fascinated by the USA – there’s so much I would love to see.
Thanks for having me on here!
