I have to say that I fully agree. This was a wonderful tale. I was excited to get started and even more excited to meet Alena and many more that I was excited to meet, but would be more excited to see them with their own story in the Kingdom Journals series.

The setting up of the main characters drew me deeper in beyond the words in the blurb. The intricacies of the world that was crafted provided both deep characters and a fantastic world of fantasy, magic, and paranormal. There was long told prophecy that would lead us to the saving of a world that would parish. Alena has more to do with this tale than she could have imagined.

Kingdom of Embers was most certainly a story that set you up for much more coming. The ending was satisfying but at the same time you knew there was more coming.

I enjoyed the narration. I have no negatives or anything really outstanding about the narration. The audio was clean, clear, and flowing.

Alena - (pronounced Uh-LEE-nuh) - Alena tells the story of how she, a seventeen year-old vampire-witch hybrid, must hide her identity from everyone, human, witch, and vampire alike because creatures like her are forbidden by vampire and witch laws. She is desperate to figure out what her mother is looking for and in the process meets Hunter, an imaginary friend from age four. Hunter and she embark on a mission to discover how they knew they interacted as children. They find they are the key to releasing a curse on witch souls damning them to purgatory.
Hunter - Seventeen year-old Hunter has no clue he is a witch, but there is no doubt in his mind that he knew Alena as a child. Once she reveals that witches do exist and helps him awaken his powers, he commits to figuring out what his purpose is and why they were able to interact as preschoolers.
