A trip to Las Vegas can be the most fun of your life.

But what if you know witches? Warlocks?

What other creatures could there be in the Las Vegas paranormal underground?
Cassandra Sanders has witnessed a messy witch divorce. Things have blown apart behind her as her friends fought with a warlock. She rides to the Stratosphere with her witch and warlock friends thinking that the worst is behind her. Throw in an Elvis impersonator, and you already have a good time ahead. But she wonders, what about her? She’s all-alone in Las Vegas. What could go wrong if she played some blackjack?

The meeting of a mysterious stranger doesn’t alarm Cass. After a casual drink, she seems to start to lose her will. Is she losing her mind? Drawn to him, she knows that maybe, this was too good to be true. He was too perfect. But in the world of the paranormal underground, where witches and warlocks played, what else should she be afraid of? Will she find out when she reaches his hotel room?

Experience what Cass finds out about the Las Vegas paranormal underground in this new series by Marilyn Vix, a sequel to the Beware of Warlocks series.

Excerpt from Chapter 1: Never Date A Vampire
Before I had more time to dwell on his charm, he asked, “Well, have you eaten yet?”
I nodded. “I already ate upstairs.”
“At the Top of the World?” I nodded again as he continued, fascinated by his voice and the accent I still couldn’t place. He was saying something about the view or the lights, but it was hard to follow when I couldn’t take my eyes off his mouth. His lips. His voice was a strong rhythm mesmerizing my brain. He stopped talking and I watched as a slow smile formed. I blinked and looked into his amazing eyes. “We could get out of here and explore the Strip.”
I shook my head, mumbling, “Sure.”
“Let’s go, then.” He finished the rest of his martini. I just left the rest of my drink. We moved out of the seating area. He stopped at the bar, dropping a bill onto the counter. It must have been a big bill, because the guy gave him a big thank you. My Bond-like date waved at him.
As I walked next to him, I realized I still didn’t know his name. As if he read my mind, he answered, “By the way, my name is Dante.”
“I’m Cassandra. Cassie for short.”
“Glad to know you, Cassie.”
He put his arm around my waist and guided me up the stairs to the front doors. I felt the pressure of his hand on my back. All of a sudden, I wanted him. I felt the pounding of my heart. My legs were moving almost as if I had no will over them, and all I wanted was to be with Dante. We walked out the door, and he gave a ticket to the valet.
He turned to me, saying, “Now my dear, we’ll take in the best sight in Vegas: my hotel room.” He kissed me, slowly, deliciously, and all I wanted to do was be with him. My brain focused on nothing else. I even didn’t mind the cheesy line of being taken to his hotel room. The valet pulled up in his black Lamborghini, and he helped me get in. I leaned back in the leather seats, shaking my head for a minute as he broke contact with my arm. But it only lasted for a minute, because I felt his hand caressing my hand after he got into the driver’s seat. “Lean back and relax Cassie. It’s not a long drive.”
That’s when I felt my eyes starting to close slowly. Outside the car, someone was calling my name, but I didn’t see who because everything went dark.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Interview with Marilyn Vix . . .

1) Do you feel that writing is an ingrained process or just something that flows naturally for you?
Marilyn Vix: I found the power of writing when I was in the fifth grade. I was encouraged by my teacher to keep a journal and had to write weekly essay assignments. Once I got used to the pattern, I relished the power and control that I had over the world I created. I COULD DO ANYTHING! It was pretty awesome as a ten year old to have that power. I still enjoy welding it.
So, I think that writing is a natural process in us all. There is a need to write and nothing will stop it for some of us. I live to write. The power, the need, and the idea someone would want to read the ideas and messages drives me to write. It flows out with this combo of the need and the power over the worlds I create. When everything comes right together, there is no stopping the words when they want to come out.
2) What mindset or routine do you feel the need to set when preparing to write (in general whether you are working on a project or just free writing)?
Marilyn Vix: I find that I have to get in the mood to approach certain projects. I do that by creating a YouTube playlist which helps me get in the mood for that certain story/manuscript. I have several for the different projects I’ve written now. I write to the music and it puts me in the world of my characters. You’re welcome to listen to them to see if it does the same.
Here are some of them:
Never Date A Vampire Playlist (Used to write the novella)
Saving My Heart Playlist (Story on Wattpad)
Thankful In Vegas Playlist (Thanksgiving in Vegas)

3) Do you people watch to help with development? Or do you build upon your character during story creation?
Marilyn Vix: I start my characters from the people watching aspect of life. I study my friends. I study strangers as I travel. I may combine or start with someone I know. Then, I nurture that character during the story and they become their own person. So much so, at times I just voyeur what they are doing and write it down.
4) Do you have a character that you have been working on that you can't wait to put to paper?
Marilyn Vix: Yes. There has been a supernatural romance I’ve been working on with paranormal investigators. I even have been researching and actually joined a paranormal investigating group. I’d always wanted to do this since I was younger and read Hans Holzer’s books from the library. So, I’m living that dream and forming some kind of story with a ghost hunter couple at the center. I’m still working out the kinks in it, but hopefully, it will sort out in my head soon.
5) Where would you spend one full year, if you could go ANYWhere, money is not a concern? What would you do with this time?
Marilyn Vix: I read recently about a Scottish Bookshop in the southwestern part of the country. It is an Air B&B apartment that you rent above the store and then work in the bookstore downstairs. I think I’d just love to live the life of a bookstore owner, and work on my writing during any slow times in the shop. Of course, at night after the shop closes, I could go upstairs and write as well. It’s a small little town, and they have an annual book festival each year to draw people to visit. The book shop is sponsored and owned by the book festival. It would be wonderful to spend a whole year writing there and working in the bookshop.

6) Can you share your next creative project(s)? If yes, can you give a few details?
Marilyn Vix: I’ve been working the last couple of years on a kpop romance that I’ve almost completed. Plus, I’ve been writing a romantic suspense with Lynda Belle about a gambler and showgirl in Vegas. It’s called Thankful in Vegas, and we’re just starting the last in the novella series together. It should come out near the end of this year.
