The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . .. REID'S REDEMPTION . . . I may sound like a broken record, but here it goes. This is the first read from this author and for me it was a nice start. Things were off to a slow pace. There were many starts and stops for me on this read. It was unusual for me to start so many times only to put the book down. I was not able to make a complete connection with the characters. I could feel the situation. I could connect there but the characters were just not the glue that I was looking for.
Loved the small town setting. Not so much the small town. The attitudes of the people, the past not allowed to be lived and done. One man paying for a incident for the rest of his life was just dragging. I was also thrown by what I felt were opposing H/h characters. He was for lack of better words weak. She was over the top. I did not feel the match between them. The scenery, the town and life there were truly what I would expect of life in a small town, minus some fo the prejudices, but that is small town life across America.
I was able to connect with the Ohio aspect of the story. The pain, sorrow, grief right on top of that too. Maybe a story for a different kind of person, but was not for me. The writing was good. A broken man was just what Reid was and it was hard for him to forget that or get past it. I had a hard time with that.

A broken man. A town on its last leg. A love that could warm the coldest of hearts...
For too many years, Reid Powell carried the sins of his family. His father's failed business. His younger brother's drug addiction. An accident that permanently altered the lives of so many in his hometown. Now, their community was crumbling from economic collapse and grief. Hope had faded with the night.
Reid’s heart was as hard as the anger that ran through his town. He had accepted his fate, and given himself over to relentless vilification. There was no other choice.
The day he found Tarryn Long on his property, light began to trickle into his darkened soul. She was different. Kind. Forgiving. Tempting. To let her in could change his life forever, but could he take that risk?
Could he ever embrace redemption?
