This is an anthology of 21 authors but we thought we’d give you a sampling of our some of our personalities.
LaVerne Thompson/Ursula Sinclair
1. What’s your writing style? I’m a pantser. I sit down and just write.
2. Where’s your favorite place to write? My office. It’s on the second floor and a corner office with windows on two sides.
3. Why are you in a box set? I enjoy the camaraderie of working with other authors. And in this case, to help the authors in this set in anyway I can achieve their dream of making a major bestsellers list.
4. If you could spend a week with a fictional character your own or someone else’s, who would that be. Book title and character name. Death Becomes Her, Bethany Ann. The cast of characters in the Kurtherian Gambit series refer to her as BA and it’s not the initials for her name.
Dahlia Rose
1. What is your writing style? I am a panster, I love feeling the story form in my head and getting it down on paper. Even if it’s a longer book, I plot the basics and let the characters take me away.
2. What is your favorite place to write? My Shera Cave, my office is not attached to my home so when my dragon sign is out. No disturbances! Plus all my stuff is in there LOL. I like writing among my favorite things.
3. Why are you in a box set? If you look at the line up, these are some of the best authors of interracial romance there is. This box set means something. We are trying to meet a goal where we don’t see many IR books. In the publishing industry while our genre is one of the more profitable, we don’t get the press like other genres. This box set sends a message that we are here and damn our books are fantastic.
4. If you could spend a week with a fictional character your own or someone else’s, who would that be? Book title and character name: For me it would be Phyrne Fisher of The Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries. Set in the 1920s in Australia she was formidable as female detective.
Olivia Gaines
1. What’s your writing style? I am a plotter. Although my plots aren’t intricate, my characters have to evolve. In order for there to be real growth, a few obstacles have to occur. It takes time to carefully lay it out, to create that journey, and allow the reader to take part in a relationship.
2. Where’s your favorite place to write? My kitchen table. At my desk, I feel constrained. At the kitchen table. it is in the middle of the house. Food, drink, half way to the bathroom...you know...
3. Why are you in a box set? All of my buddies from my favorite conference are in the set. I was not coming to conference and have everybody talk about this box set and Olivia not be a part of the team! Besides, we have a chance to do something awesome here, and I think we can.
4. If you could spend a week with a fictional character your own or someone else’s, who would that be. Book title and character name. Bella from Twilight so I can beat her ass and all her little sparkling friends.
Afton Locke
1. What’s your writing style?
I’m mostly a pantser, but I do a little pre plotting and go through a very rigorous polishing phase. It’s the in-between time where I’m footloose and fancy free and just write.
2. Where’s your favorite place to write?
The only place I can write is at my desk in my home office. Need to be alone and playing music. (I tried to do the trendy thing once and wrote at a coffee shop. And, well, the power was out at my house for a whole week. I was so distracted and annoyed I couldn’t write much of anything. I found out that week, however, I can indeed write longhand if I have to.)
3. Why are you in a box set?
I met most of my fantastic co-authors at the IRAE convention in Florida, and doing a creative project together sounded very exciting. I also seek exposure to more readers.
4. If you could spend a week with a fictional character your own or someone else’s, who would that be. Book title and character name.
I would love to spend a week with Ryan, the hero of Look Into My Eyes, my contribution to the Crossroads boxed set. See how it feels to be in his situation. Get a little of that intense, no-holds barred love like Gina does. Figure out how much I would be willing to risk for that love.
Aliyah Burke
1. What’s your writing style? Pantser or Plotter.
I’m a pantser. However, full disclosure--I will admit that for my cozy series I’m working on there is some definite plotting happening and it’s killing me.
2. Where’s your favorite place to write?
I love to be in my office, w/ the heating pad if weather permits it making sense, music on and my dogs and books around me. Although, anywhere so long as I can put words down, I’m happy.
3. Why are you in a box set?
I enjoy collaborating with fellow authors, especially ones I have such admiration for, and these authors nail that without any questions. This is my honor to be part.
4. If you could spend a week with a fictional character your own or someone else’s, who would that be. Book title and character name.
I would love to spend a week with Donal fron Jennifer Roberson’s Legacy of the Sword. A warrior who’s mother shifted twice when she was carrying him and that enables him to become both wolf and golden falcon. He is the prince of his people and they are fighting a purge, I would just love to be with him to see how he handles it all. Or any of the Cheysuli.
Reana Malori
1. What’s your writing style? Pantser or Plotter. I’m a pantser. I’ve tried my hand at plotting but it never seems to work for me. I’ll get all turned around. As a result, I let the characters tell me where they want to go.
2. Where’s your favorite place to write? I can write anywhere, but my house is best for me. I’m comfortable, have my wine, play my music, and allow the words to flow.
3. Why are you in a box set? The ladies in this set are phenomenal authors. When the chance came to collaborate with them on this boxed set, I jumped at the chance. This is a great opportunity to reach for something greater, and I can’t think of a better group of ladies to go with me on this journey.

I normally start off as a plotter then I go off the rails and turn into a pantser.

4. If I could spend a week with a fictional character, I would spend it with Cullen Quinn from Choosing Love.
