EXCERPT
She must have fallen asleep, because the next thing
she knew, her phone was ringing. Barely conscious, she couldn’t work out
whether it was a call or her alarm. With her eyes still shut, she reached out
and located her phone. She squinted at the screen and sat bolt upright.
Cash was calling her.
The phone slipped through her fingers and landed in
her lap. Snatching at it, she managed to answer before the call was diverted to
voicemail.
“H-Hello,” she said tentatively.
“I got a missed call from this number. Who is this?”
Tally sucked in a breath. Hearing Cash’s voice after
so long was like putting soothing lotion on a nasty burn. She closed her eyes
as though that would somehow make it easier to speak.
“Don’t mind me, love. I’ve got all fucking day,” he
said, forthright as ever.
“It’s Natalia.”
Her hands shook as she was met with a stony silence.
“Are you okay?” he finally said, although his tone
held no warmth.
“Yes. I-I’m sorry for calling.”
“What do you want?”
Tally flinched at his bluntness. “To hear your
voice,” she said, her vision blurring with unshed tears.
“There’s hundreds of videos on YouTube.”
A flash of pain shot through her chest. “This was a
mistake.” She pulled her phone away from her ear.
“Wait! Don’t hang up. Are you still there?”
“Yes,” she whispered.
“How are you?”
“Good. I’m good.”
“You changed your number.”
She closed her eyes. “Yes.”
“But you kept mine.”
“Yes.”
“Don’t live on false hope, Natalia.”
She fisted her hands into her pyjamas as another
burst of pain shot through her. “It’s late. I’m going now.”
“Natalia?”
“Yes.”
A pause. “Take care of yourself.”

WINNING ACE, #1
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . WINNING ACE
(Winning Ace, #1) . . . Cash and Tally brought a certain flavor
back to the interesting world of tennis and the scrutiny of the public eye. Cash
is our resident bad boy of center court. While Tally, she is the journalist
looking to make that big story to propel her career forward. Cash lives his
life more or less inside a fish bowl that seems to always need filling. Tally
helps to ground in a way that makes him feel completed or at least more real.
I found excitement, warmth, passion, romance with both
Tally and Cash. They find something in the other that sparks their world to
something more than just the existence presented. One deception could set what
they had begun to create on a different course. Cash vows to get some revenge
but finds that doing so will not be so easy. He finds that he is drawn to the
spunky little reporter.
The lies, deceit, secrets, intensity, turns, fate, life
all happens around them and pushes them together. While at the same time works
very hard to tear them apart. I fell the emotions run through both Cash and
Tally. This read was more. It was rich with emotions, deceptions, chemistry,
Tally & Cash. Coming start the ride and see where it takes you.

LOSING GAME, #2
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . LOSING GAME
(Winning Ace, #2) . . . I just finished book one a few days
ago. It was fresh in my mind and I was burning to get a hold of this one and
start the adventurous romance of Cash and Tally. I just was not completely
expecting to get what I got.
This one was fast pace and hard hitting. There was
something around every page turned. There was this build of anticipation. The
passion. The chemistry. The energy. The stamina. The witt and banter. The pain
and sorrow. There will be heartbreak. If you read book one, which is a must to
move forward, you do not want to miss book two. This one will be explosive in
many ways.

Author Info
Tracie Delaney is the author of the Winning Ace trilogy. She loves nothing more than immersing herself in a good romance, although she sometimes, rather cheekily, makes her characters wait for their HEA.
When she isn’t writing or sitting around with her head stuck in a book, she can often be found watching The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones or any tennis match involving Roger Federer. Her greatest fear is running out of coffee.
Tracie studied accountancy, gaining her qualification in 2001. Her maths teacher would no doubt be stunned by this revelation considering Tracie could barely add two plus two at high school.
Tracie lives in the North West of England with her amazingly supportive husband. They both share a love of dogs, travel and wine.
FLASHBACK TO MY INTERVIEW
WITH TRACIE DELANEY
How would you describe your style of writing to someone that has
never read your work?
What a great question! I’ve been told I have quite a unique
writing style. I am not overly descriptive, preferring just enough to set the
scene, but I do love dialogue. The characters interacting on the page is what
excites me and I prefer that to drive the story rather than being overly
narrative.
What are some of your writing/publishing goals for this year?
To get the entire Winning Ace trilogy published. The second book is due for
release on July 31 with the third in early to mid October (depending on how
quickly I can get through the editing and proofreading process). I’m also
working on a fourth book but this will be based on the best friend of the main
character in Winning Ace. He simply demanded his story be told J.
I’d like to get that book out around Christmas time if I can pull it off.
Do you feel that writing is an ingrained process or just something that flows
naturally for you?
Parts of writing come very easily to me (for example dialogue), but like any
craft, you need to work at it. I worked with a mentor one-on-one for almost
four years to really hone my craft and I read as many books on writing as I
have time for. I’m always learning new things. Writing is something that every
author can always improve upon and that’s what I try to do because I owe it to
the reader to put out the best book I’m capable of writing at that time.
Do you have a character that you have been working on for a long time that
still isn't quite ready, but fills you with excitement to work on the story?
Yes! He’s called Lucas Devereux and I have a book which is ¾ written but I
still don’t feel he’s talking to me properly yet (he’s very secretive and
complicated). However, when he does talk, I listen (and get those words down as
fast as I can).
If you could spend one-week with 5 fictional characters, who would they be?
Ooh, I love this question. And I get to pick 5!
Kane Malloy who is a character in Lindsay J Pryor’s Blackthorn
series which is a Dark PNR series set in a dystopian world. Kane is a master
vampire and very hot!
Kade Dennon who featured in Tiffany Snow’s Kathleen Turner series.
I devoured those books (although the last one was a little disappointing).
Still highly recommended.
Will Berwick in Incy Black’s Hard to Protect. Some of Will’s one
liners have me laughing out loud and I loved the complicated relationship he
had with the heroine.
James Bond….because who wouldn’t J
Max from Montana Ash’s Elemental Paladins series. Max is a very
feisty girl but she is just so funny and fun to be around—and let’s face it,
I’d need another woman to help me keep those men in line for a whole week!
Where would you spend one full year, if you could go ANYWhere? What would you
do with this time?
I’d go to Australia because it’s somewhere I’ve never been and would love to
go, but it’s not somewhere you could go for a few weeks. To really appreciate
it, you’d need more time so a year would be wonderful. I’d write (of course),
but I’d also take the time to explore the whole country because it’s just so diverse
with so many wonderful things to see. My number one destination would be
Penguin Island just south of Melbourne. I love penguins and to see them all
coming out of the sea at night would be truly magical.
Can you share you next creative project(s)? If yes, can you give a few details?
I’m playing around with an idea for a four book series following
four brothers after their parents are killed in a plane crash. The eldest
brother (who the first book would be based on) had to give up his dreams to
take care of his three younger brothers and his book follows the fallout from
that and the impact on the family. It would be a romance (of course) because
that’s what is in my heart to write, but it will also deal with complex family
dynamics.
