The Book Junkie Reads . . .Reckless Dreams Interview with . . . J.C. Moore . . .
How would you describe your style of writing to someone that has never read your work? I work on the proper tone for the story and believe characters that you hopefully feel an emotional connection with.
What mindset or routine do you feel the need to set when preparing to write (in general whether you are working on a project or just free writing)? I believe creativity takes a great discipline. I get up very early before the rest of the family and write EVERY day trying to get to a 5000 word goal.
Do you take your character prep to heart? Do you nurture the growth of each character all the way through to the page? Do you people watch to help with development? Or do you build upon your character during story creation? I base every character on someone that I have known to draw inspiration from. A good example is in this book. The sheriff questions an old woman about a murder. I knew a woman just like her when I was younger. She was just like the character and was a very interesting woman.
Can you share your next creative project(s)? If yes, can you give a few details? I just finished the follow up to Hidden By The Dark. It is called Dead In The Shadows. My editor has it now with a release date of September 4th. It is available for pre-order. I also have a Sci-Fi series for Young Adults that is called Earth Rebels! - I am currently working on Book 2.
Where would you spend one full year, if you could go ANYWhere, money is not a concern? What would you do with this time? Oh, man! Dare to dream! I would probably pick some sweet little home on a hill in Ireland. Just make sure I have a computer or typewriter and lots of coffee and tea! Of course, I would need the obligatory chair and my dog curled at my feet.
