Brothers in Blue: Matt (Brothers in Blue, #3) by Jeanne St. James

Matt

Brothers in Blue, #3

Published Date: April 9th 2017
Meet the men of Manning Grove, three small-town cops and brothers, who meet the women who will change the rest of their lives. This is Matt’s story…

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . MATT: A Brothers in Blue Novel . . . While smokin’ hot and sexy as hell, Matt pissed me off on more occasions than not. The was a serious a**hole with major issues. PTSD and OCD were just the tip of the iceberg. He was lustful and caring one moment then he was ready to bite her head off and boss her around. Then he would become distant and moody.

The Dictator Doctor, Carly, was his simple downfall. She was all he could desire in a woman and more except for one thing. She had a dream and he wanted no part of it. She was strong, independent, and working with constraints of her own.

I found this read very well written and emotional. There were ups and downs that sent Carly on a tale-spin. Matt was going through a lot himself and found that disappearing was the answer to the issue bothering him. I could understand his need to depart but not the lack of communications.

I enjoyed seeing Marc and Leah again. I would like to get to know more about Max and Amanda, before Hannah. I loved Teddy and Greg. This was a true family and dinners at their home reminds me of a family and all the quirks that go along with it.

Brothers in Blue series:
Max – Brothers in Blue, #1
Marc – Brothers in Blue, #2
Matt – Brothers in Blue, #3

BLURB
As a former Marine, Matt Bryson has dealt with PTSD ever since coming home from the Middle East. He finds himself fortunate to be able to return to his job as a cop at the local police department with his brothers Max and Marc.

Dr. Carly Stephens works hard as an obstetrician at the local hospital, struggling to pay off her medical school loans, financially support her elderly parents, and save money to adopt a baby. Unable to have children, she still longs for one of her very own.

Instantly attracted to the Dictator Doctor, Matt finds Carly easily brings him to his knees both emotionally and physically. What starts out only as a convenient sexual relationship turns into a whole lot more when dealing with their pasts and their future. Especially since Matt doesn’t ever want children.

Matt and Carly find themselves on a passionate and emotional journey that can either bring them together or rip them apart.

Note: This book can be read as a stand-alone and has an HEA ending. Due to the sensual and explicit sexual nature of the story, it is intended only for readers 18+. Trigger warning: this book includes a main character who is dealing with PTSD.

EXCERPT:
She didn’t know why the angry asshole sitting next to her made her want to fuck his brains out.
Yet something pulled at her.
Maybe it was the challenge.
Or the fact she hadn’t had sex in…hell, forever.
Maybe she needed a night of angry sex to relieve some of the stress of being an overworked OB/GYN at a small hospital.
Maybe she just needed a few explosive orgasms to help her forget about all the debt she had. All the responsibilities.
She peeked out of the corner of her eye at him. Officer Asshole had a shit-eating grin on his face. Surely, it wouldn’t take much to wipe it off.
“Where are you heading?” she asked.
“Taking you home.”
“Take me to your place.”
His head snapped in her direction and the truck swerved when he jerked the wheel. He straightened it out and concentrated back on the road. “What?”
Yep. Now he wore a frown instead of that cocky grin.
“Take. Me. To. Your. Place.” The words were distinct and forceful. She wanted to make sure he knew she wouldn’t take no for an answer.
“Why?” he asked, the suspicion thick in his voice.
“Really?”
“I want to make sure I’m not hallucinating,” he said.
“To fuck me into oblivion.”
His eyebrows rose, but he kept his eyes on the road. “What if I suck at sex?”
“You won’t.” She smirked. “Assholes are always good in bed.”
His brows crept even higher. “Sounds like you know from experience.”
“I do.” Unfortunately, it was the truth.
“Maybe I can’t get it up.”
Carly looked at his lap. The distinct bulge in his jeans kind of shot that lie to bits. “Assholes can always get it up.”
With a cocked eyebrow, he asked, “You have a thing for assholes?”
“I must.”

GUEST POST:

Men in Uniform by Jeanne St. James:
I always say that there’s nothing like a man in uniform – I’m sure most ladies agree. One Memorial Day weekend when I was in New York City, it was “Fleet Week.” Amidst the crowds of people, who stood out the most? The men wearing sharp looking military uniforms. I think the reason why I like men in uniform so much is they appear to be “squared away.” Whether military or law enforcement, their uniforms are usually pressed and depending what they are doing, they may wear medals, etc.

The point of being “squared away” is to intimidate and to impress, to draw respect from the public. For example, a person is going to respect a police officer more if his appearance is neat: his duty belt polished, his uniform pressed, his hair trimmed neatly, his badge and/or nametag straight. It’s truly an officer safety issue.

By the way, I have the utmost respect for the men and women who serve our country either here on home soil or overseas, be it military or law enforcement. They truly help keep our great nation safe.

On a more personal note, I have both my AA and my BS in Criminal Justice, I used to be an emergency dispatcher, and also have law enforcement training. In addition, my significant other has been in law enforcement for 24 years, and is currently a Major. So my life revolves around police.

If you can tell, I love all aspects of law enforcement. I love to write stories about law enforcement males because they’re usually Alpha. And I love Alpha men, how about you?

So far, most of my contemporary erotic romances include Alpha males in two types of uniforms: law enforcement and football.
