Jennifer Ivy Walker creates a magical fantasy story in The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven. This beautiful fantasy novel captured my full attention from start to finish. Jennifer Ivy Walker infuses espionage, betrayal, love, magic, and danger throughout the story. The transitions were flawless. The end of the story left me yearning to read the sequel. I recommend The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven to readers who enjoy fantasy romances full of magic and strengthened by well-developed characters.

The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven is a captivating paranormal romance tale. The reader will absolutely become enthralled by this fascinating, exciting, and action-packed story. Walker created three plots that merged together easily. Each plot was intertwined with the others so intricately and seamlessly that the reader will be caught up completely within the pages. As each character is introduced, the author gives a solid enough portrayal to be able to visualize the character as they come to life on the pages of this book. The reader will fall in love with Issylte as she navigates her fate, beginning from her homeland of Ireland to England and then on the island of Avalon.

Excerpt
“I don’t know if she even exists, Lancelot, but I want a woman who makes me feel alive! I want her kisses to arouse my passion, her heart to sing to mine. I want a muse to inspire my song, a lady to whom I would pledge my sword—and my life.” Tristan shook his head and sighed. “Is such a love even possible?”
The First Knight of Camelot responded with a sad smile. “It is indeed possible, Tristan.”
Lancelot turned his pensive gaze to the vast expanse of sea. “In French, we call such a love l’amour fou—a passion so intense… it can drive you mad.”

Lancelot glanced back at Tristan, a forlorn smile reaching his intense blue eyes. “When you find such a woman, Tristan, the love she gives you fills every empty hollow in your soul. She completes you; she invigorates you; she thrills you. And, when you consummate such a love, the exquisite blend of the spiritual and physical realm will satisfy you more than the finest wine or the greatest victory in battle. The love she gives you with her body will transport you to the stars, and you will never experience a greater joy.”

Author Info
Enthralled with legends of medieval knights and ladies, dark fairy tales and fantasies about Druids, wizards and magic, Jennifer Ivy Walker always dreamed of becoming a writer. She fell in love with French in junior high school, continuing her study of the language throughout college, eventually becoming a high school teacher and college professor of French.

As a high school teacher, she took her students every year to the annual French competition, where they performed a play she had written, "Yseult la Belle et Tristan la Bête"--an imaginative blend of the medieval French legend of "Tristan et Yseult" and the fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast", enhanced with fantasy elements of a Celtic fairy and a wicked witch.

Her debut novel, "The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven"--the first of a trilogy-- is a blend of her love for medieval legends, the romantic French language, and paranormal fantasy. It is a retelling of the medieval French romance of "Tristan et Yseult", interwoven with Arthurian myth, dark fairy tales from the enchanted Forest of Brocéliande, and otherworldly elements such as Avalonian Elves, Druids, forest fairies and magic.

Explore her realm of Medieval French Fantasy. She hopes her novels will enchant you.

The Book Junkie Reads . . .Reckless Dreams  Interview with  . . . Jennifer Ivy Walker . . .

How would you describe your style of writing to someone that has never read your work?
Medieval French Fantasy. I have adapted a medieval French legend, “Tristan et Yseult” (Tristan and Isolde in English), and interwoven it with Arthurian myth and otherworldly elements such as Druids, forest fairies, Avalon, a dark wizard, a wicked queen, and diabolical dwarves. I have further enhanced my novels with dark fairty tales from the enchanted Forest of Brocéliande, birthplace of Merlin, the Lady of the Lake Viviane, and Lancelot, the intrepid First Knight of King Arthur Pendragon of Camelot.

Do you feel that writing is an ingrained process or just something that flows naturally for you?
Writing has always been my greatest talent. I am a French high school teacher and college professor, and I think I discovered my talent for writing at the same age as my innate ability with languages. They developed simultaneously. And, when I studied French literature, history, and culture, I knew that would be the thematic source for my novels.

Have you found yourself bonding with any particular character(s)? If so, which one(s)?
Yes, I feel bonded with my protagonist, Issylte. She is deaf in her right ear, like I am, and I made it an integral part of the story.  Her hearing impairment plays a major role in some of the dangerous situations she finds herself in.

Can you share your next creative project(s)? If yes, can you give a few details?
I am currently writing a novel about a sullen, solitary, chivalrous knight and his impossible love for a Viking princess who will be forced to marry a man she loathes.  The knight, Sir Bastien de Landuc, becomes her personal royal guard as well as her equestrian instructor, and he teaches Gabrielle weaponry so that she can defend her kingdom like a Valkyrie shield maiden of Nordic lore.

What are some of your writing/publishing goals for this year?
My debut novel, “The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven”—the first of a trilogy-- was just released in September. I am in the final galley stages of publication with book 2, “The Lady of the Mirrored Lake”, which will be published in early 2023. Book 3, “The Emerald Fairy and the Dragon Knight”, will be published shortly thereafter.
