Oma
and the Prince
by

Genre:
Fairytale

Oma
and the Prince is a unique African fairytale that follows the journey
of Oma, a poor girl with a rare skin disease. Oma was ridiculed not
only because of her skin, but because she aimed high. This fairytale
encourages its readers to dream big and chase those dreams. It covers
social topics such as bullying, self-advocacy, and diversity. Along
with following their dreams, readers learn that the beauty that
really matters is inner beauty.
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . OMA AND THE PRINCE . . . The illustrations were rich with color. The story of one girl and her battle with many social issue that happen in today's world was for me well worth the read. I shared this story with two of my daughters and they both enjoyed it. All of us were a little disappointed in Oma's mother and her reaction to something Oma shared with her. I found the King and Queen to be a bit small minded also. The prince was open minded and had an open and humble heart. A story with something more than just a happily forever.
